"Dancing with the Stars" woke up Tuesday to some bad news, as ABC announced that the long-running series would be cut to one night a week starting this fall.
But the show must go on, and that means putting on a happy face and
staging what may be the second-to-last results show in series history.It was not a good night for soap star Ingo Rademacher, who got the boot after being the only celebrity to earn a perfect score in Monday's performance show. Rademacher was liked by fans for his positive attitude and hard work throughout the season, but his failure to catch up points-wise with the competition likely sealed his fate.
Rademacher's departure leaves four celebrities competing for the prestigious Mirror Ball trophy, and picking a favorite is all but impossible.
Country singer Kellie Pickler has been the surprise of the season, rising to the cream of the "Dancing" crop with her consistently strong performances on the dance floor. Could the first "American Idol" contestant to appear on "Dancing" win it all?
Actress Zendaya has followed in the footsteps of Disney compatriots Roshon Fegan, Chelsea Kane and Kyle Massey by being a top performer on the "Dancing" stage. The youngest "Dancing" competitor ever, the 16-year-old could surprise with a Mirror Ball win.
Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman, meanwhile, hopes to mirror the success of Shawn Johnson, who was crowned the winner in the spring of 2009.
But there's also NFL receiver Jacoby Jones, who seemed to break out on Monday's performance show. Football stars tend to do well when the final votes are tallied (Emmitt Smith, Jerry Rice, Donald Driver).
