Box Office Report

By Abid, Glamsham Editorial
This Friday will see the release of YRF's AURANGZEB and the Amit Kasaria directed I DON'T LUV U. Given the hype and promotion, the Rishi Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Prithviraj, Swara Bhaskar and Sasheh Agha starrer appears to be the front runner, though the MMS scandal Ruslaan Mumtaz and Chetna Pandey venture is also making a mark with the youths. Last Friday saw the release of Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK's zom-com GO GOA GONE and Karan Johar's teen coming-of-age fare GIPPI. As expected it was GO GOA GONE which opened decently and saw a pick up over the next two days, thus netting 14-15 crore (to be validated) during the opening week from India. Given the very reasonable 9-10 crore budget, GO GOA GONE is all set to be a plus fare. Unfortunately Karan Johar's GIPPI did not manage to translate the appreciation into numbers and despite improvement over the weekend, netted around 4-5 crore (to be validated) during the first weekend. In the overseas GO GOA GONE saw disappointing collections (better in US) grossing and#163;48,000 from UK and $170,000 from the US during the opening weekend (10-12 May).
After a healthy weekend Sanjay Gupta's SHOOTOUT AT WADALA maintained decently during the weekdays (in Mumbai-Mahrashtra, Nizam and CP) collecting 7.50 crore from Bombay, 1.65 crore from Ahmedabad, 88 lakhs from Surat, 52 lakhs from Baroda, 38.50 lakhs from Rajkot, 2.50 crore from Pune, 40 lakhs from Nasik, 27.75 lakhs from Goa, 10.50 lakhs from Belgaum, 3.15 crore from Delhi city, 42.25 lakhs from Noida, 30 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 26 lakhs from Kanpur, 50 lakhs from Lucknow, 16 lakhs from Agra, 12.50 lakhs from Allahabad, 6.50 lakhs from Aligarh, 50 lakhs from Gurgaon, 8.50 lakhs from Faridabad, 3.75 lakhs from Kurukshetra, 6.15 lakhs from Panipat, 8.50 lakhs from Chandigarh, 10.75 lakhs from Jalandhar, 3 lakhs from Amritsar, 3.50 lakhs from Ludhiana, 3.50 lakhs from Bhatinda, 2.15 lakhs from Ambala, 3 lakhs from Jammu, 45 lakhs from Calcutta, 1.15 lakhs from Siliguri, 3.50 lakhs from Ranchi, 8.50 lakhs from Bhubhaneshwar, 4.25 lakhs from Guwahati, 50 lakhs from Nagpur, 12.35 lakhs from Jabalpur, 22 lakhs from Raipur, 50 lakhs from Indore (collections from 4 cinemas unreceived), 9.25 lakhs from Gwalior (collections from 7 cinemas unreceived), 32.25 lakhs from Bhopal (collections from 4 cinemas unreceived), 90 lakhs from Jaipur, (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 3.50 lakhs from Jodhpur (collections from 6 cinemas unreceived), 10.50 lakhs from Ajmer, 7.50 lakhs from Bikaner, 17.25 lakhs from Kota, 18.25 lakhs from Udaipur, 75 lakhs from Hyderabad, 30 lakhs from Aurangabad (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 60 lakhs from Bangalore, 2 lakhs from Vijayawada, 2 lakhs from Visakhapatnam, 2.25 lakhs from Madras and 1.50 lakhs from Kochi. Netting around 42 crore during the opening week from India, SHOOTOUT AT WADALA will have to show a reasonable second week to be considered a safe bet, due to the high involved costs. The film is decent in the overseas (better in US) grossing and#163;150,000 from UK and $339,000 from the US till the second weekend (12-14 May).
